9 days Uganda safari is a tour which will take place across different parks of Uganda and you will also engage in various activities during this tour such as chimpanzee trekking, gorilla trekking, lion tracking experience, game drives, boat rides and also a cultural experience where you will interact with the Baganda people and get to know more about their culture.
During the safari, you will visit Kibale national park, Queen Elizabeth national park and also go on an adventure in the Bwindi impenetrable forest national park.
Day 1: drive to Kibale national park
You will be picked up from your hotel in Entebbe, you will start the journey to Kibale forest national park which is located in western Uganda. The journey takes about 5 to 6 hours’ drive and on the way you will have lunch and enjoy stunning views of the beautiful scenery, landscape, tea plantation, Rwenzori Mountains, views of the crater lakes among others. Upon arrival in Kibale national park, you will continue to check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Isunga lodge
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and nature walk
After an early breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to transfer to the Kanyachu park headquarters for a chimpanzee trekking briefing. After the briefing you will be allocated an experienced park guide and start trekking in the forest in search of chimpanzees. During trekking you will be rewarded with views of other primates like l’hoest monkeys, red tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey, and you will also enjoy seeing different bird species. Once the chimpanzees are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in the forest as you watch them feed, play, fight, hunt, rest, observe their behaviors, take photos and record videos.
After the one hour encounter with the chimpanzees you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet up with your driver guide and you will also enjoy a nature walk to the Bigodi swamp. You will later return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Isunga lodge
Day 3; transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
You will have breakfast at your lodge as you prepare for the journey to Queen Elizabeth national park. On the way you will have en-route lunch and enjoy spectacular views of the beautiful scenery, landscape, Rwenzori Mountains, tea plantations among others on the way to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Pumba safari cottages
Day 4: Morning game drive/ lion tracking experience and afternoon boat cruise
Morning game drive/ lion tracking experience
On the 4th day of your 9 days Uganda safari , After an early breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for a morning game drive in Kasenyi plains. During the game drive you will be able to spot different animals like elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, Uganda kobs, waterbucks which will be grazing in open savannah plains, view predators like lions, leopards, hyenas which will be looking for a morning hunt, view bird species among others. After the game drive you will have your lunch.
Afternoon boat cruise
After lunch you will go for an interesting boat cruise on Kazinga channel a water channel that connect lake Edward and lake George. During the boat cruise which takes about 2 to 3 hours, you will be able to view large herds of hippos and Nile crocodiles in water, view buffaloes, elephants, warthogs, waterbucks drinking water along the shores, view water birds like hornbills, cormorants, fish eagles, king fisher’s among others. After the boat ride you will return to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight as above.
Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park
You will enjoy a relaxed breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park. On the way you will have a stopover in Ishasha sector where you will look out for the famous tree climbing lions which will be lazily lying up in acacia/ fig tree branches.
You will also have lunch and then continue the journey to Bwindi national park with great views of the beautiful landscape, countryside, Kigezi hills, terraced farmlands among others. Upon arrival in Bwindi impenetrable national park you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Buhoma haven lodge
Day 6: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park
Gorilla trekking,
On the 6th day of your 9 days Uganda safari , after an early breakfast, you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. After the briefing you will be allocated a gorilla family to trek and a park guide who is knowledgeable about the mountain gorillas.
During trekking you will be able to view other primate species, different bird species, plants among others and once the mountain gorillas are found, you will be able to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to observe their behaviors, watch them carry out their daily activities like feeding, playing, breastfeeding, grooming young ones, take photos and record videos. After the one hour encounter with the gentle giants, you will drive back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight as above.
Day 7: drive to Kampala
After having breakfast at your lodge in Bwindi national park, your guide will drive you back to Kampala. You will have a stop for lunch in Mbarara and also have a stop at the equator where you will take photos.
After lunch you will be driven to your hotel in Kampala for check in and dinner and overnight stay at Forest cottages.
Day 8; Kampala city tour and Buganda culture experience
You will engage in a tour around Kampala city after having breakfast at your hotel. You will also enjoy a cultural experience and interact with the Baganda and get to know more about their culture and way of life. You will also enjoy a traditional lunch and also take part in traditional dances with the Baganda. After the city tour in Kampala, your guide will drive you back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Forest cottages.
Day 9; departure
After having breakfast at your hotel in Jinja, your guide will drive you to Entebbe where you will be dropped off at the airport which will bring your safari to an end.
