4 Days Uganda Chimpanzee Trekking Safari : Get an insight into the lives of playful chimpanzees on this 4 days Uganda Chimpanzee Trekking Safari taking you on a tour to Kibale Forest National Park, Africa’s primate capital.

The park is located in western region of Uganda and is home to 13 primate species including the highest concentration of chimpanzees in Africa, other primates in Kibale Forest include olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons and Mangabeys among others.

You will also have a cultural experience in the local community, have a cave tour and a visit to the beautiful Crater Lakes.

Detailed itinerary of 4 Days Uganda Chimpanzee Trekking Safari

Day 1: Drive to Kibale National Park

As you walk out of Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our smiling guide. He will give you a short briefing about the safari and embark on a journey to Kibale Forest National Park, along the way you will have several stops at scenic spots for photography and lunch in Fort Portal.

Proceed to the park arriving in late afternoon, check in at your lodge and spend the rest of the day relaxing as you get ready for tomorrow’s activity.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Wetland Walk

Wake up early for breakfast and head to the park for chimpanzee trekking experience. You will join other visitors at the park headquarters for briefing about rules and regulations to follow while in the forests of Kibale and in presence of chimpanzees.

Then head to starting point looking for chimpanzees.

The trek takes approximately 2 – 5 hours basing on the movement of the chimpanzees and their location that day, during the trek you will be able to see other forest creatures including black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons, mangabeys and many birds. When you locate the chimpanzees, you are permitted to stay only 1 hour in their presence watching the chimpanzees go on with their daily life, care for each other, swinging from one trek branch to another and you are allowed to take pictures.

Return to the park’s headquarters to pick your permits and head to your lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will head to the nearby Bigodi Village for a wetland walk on which you will spot several primates and many birds. The Bigodi Swamp is managed by the local community and is controlled by the local people and all the funds go to the benefit of the local people and their several projects.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Crater Lake Visit, Nyakasura Caves Visit and Fort Portal Town Tour

Have a leisurely breakfast, head out for a visit to some of the crater lakes in Kabale and Kabarole district, some of these crater lakes are situated close to several lodges. You will have a nature providing you with magnificent views of the lakes and the surrounding, later head to Fort Portal for a tour and lunch. You will visit the Tooro Palace, head to Nyakasura Caves for a tour and a cultural experience. Later in the evening, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Drive back to Kampala – End of the safari

After breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge and start on your drive back to Kampala with en-route lunch. You will be dropped off at the hotel or at Entebbe International Airport for your flight back home.
