4 Days Kidepo flying safari is a carefully organized itinerary taking you an exciting safari to kidepo national park the most scenic national park in Uganda, kidepo national park is situated in the north east region of Uganda covering an area of 1442 square kilometers. the park is a home to many wildlife such as zebras, lion, cheetah, buffalo, elephants, spotted hyena, wild dog, bat eared foxes, Rothschild giraffe and bird life including fox kestrel, golden pipit, greater kestrel, Jackson’s hornbill, Abyssinian scimitar bill, Abyssinian roller, chestnut weaver and many more.

Kidepo valley national park consists of scenic landscape is make up of Narus valley, kidepo valley, Narus river, Kidepo river and mountain Morungole. From Kampala to kidepo valley national park is in a drive of 10 hours which make it a long trip by road that is why this itinerary suggest the use of air transport, domestic flights are offered by AEROLINK chartered company from Entebbe international airport or kajjansi airstrip to kidepo airport.

Detailed itinerary of the safari                                         

Day 1: fly to kidepo valley national park and afternoon game drive

On the first day of the safari you will wake up early in the morning for breakfast and drive to kajjansi airstrip or Entebbe international airport for a chartered flight to kidepo airport, from kidepo airport you will drive to kidepo valley national park. Upon your arrival you will check into your lodge, have lunch and in the after you will go for an afternoon game drive. on this game drive you will see many animals like zebras, elephants, buffaloes, spotted hyenas, wild dogs, lions, leopards, bat eared foxes, Rothschild giraffe and many birds such as fox kestrel, golden pipit, greater kestrel, Jackson’s hornbill, Abyssinian scimitar bill, Abyssinian roller, chestnut weaver and many more which live in the plains of the park. After the game drive you will drive back to your lodge and in the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 2: game drive and cultural visit in Karamojong community

On the second day of the safari you will wake up early in the morning for breakfast and drive to the park for morning game drive, on the game drive you visit many sections of the park such as Narus valley and Kidepo valley visiting Kidepo River, Narus river and Kanangorok hot springs. As you drive in the park you will see many animals such as zebras, elephants, buffaloes, spotted hyenas, wild dogs, lions, leopards, bat eared foxes, Rothschild giraffe and many more. You also get to see many bird species such as fox kestrel, golden pipit, greater kestrel, Jackson’s hornbill, Abyssinian scimitar bill, Abyssinian roller, chestnut weaver and many more. After the game drive you will drive back to your lodge, have lunch and in the evening you will go on a cultural visit to the Karamojong community, visiting Karamojong society offers you a chance to enjoy authentic African culture as you enjoy traditional dances and songs, encountering the manyattas and get to interact with the elders. You will drive back to your lodge and in the evening you have dinner and stay overnight

Day 3:  Hiking experience on mountain Morungole and visiting the local IK people

On the third day of the safari you will wake up early in the morning for breakfast, meet your safari driver and drive to the southern region of the park to mountain Morungole for hiking with your packed lunch. Mountain Morungole is situated in the southern part of the park and stands at the altitude of 2,750 meters above the sea level, hiking mountain Morungole is a thrilling experience taking about 8 hours and offers you panoramic views of the surrounding and many animals in the park. On top of mountain there lives the IK minority group of people, you will be entertained by local songs and dances, participate in activities like cattle rearing and many more. After the interaction with the local people you will descend back to the foothills of the mountain, meet your driver and drive back to your lodge. in the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 4: guided nature walk and transfer back to Kampala

On the fourth day and last day of your safari you will wake up not as early as the last days, have breakfast and drive to the plains of kidepo national park for a guided nature walk which is done on foot. as you walk in the various regions of the park majorly Narus valley you will appreciate the scenic beauty of the park more, spot many animals like zebras, lion, cheetah, wild dog, bat eared foxes, Rothschild giraffe and many birds such as kori bustard, ostrich, red and yellow barbet, dark chanting goshawk and many more. After the experience you will drive back to your lodge, have lunch then checkout of your lodge and drive to kidepo airport for your departure flight to either Kajjansi airstrip or Entebbe international airport. At Entebbe international airport you will catch your departure flight back thus the end of your 4 days kidepo valley national park safari.
