The park is home to the biggest concentration of chimpanzees in Africa, Kibale is home to a total of 13 primate species and other primates include black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons among others.
On this 3 Days Chimpanzee Habituation Experience Safari, you get to spend more than 1 hour with the chimpanzees as opposed to the normal chimpanzee trekking, giving you only one hour of being in the presence of the chimpanzees.

Detailed Itinerary of 3 Days Chimpanzee Habituation Experience Safari
Day 1: Transfer to Fort Portal – Kibale Forest
As you walk out of your immigration offices at the airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our guide. After a short briefing about what to expect on this safari, embark on a journey to Kibale National Park.
From Kampala, it is 5 hours through the picturesque landscape of the western Uganda to Fort Portal Town with scenic views of tea plantation, green mountains and people going on with their daily life. In Fort Portal, you will have lunch and visit the King’s Palace and proceed to the park arriving in afternoon. You will head to Amabeere ga Nyinamwiru for a tour, these caves are associated to the historical myths about the Bachwezi people. The caves have breast – like pointed pillars stalactites and Stalagmites locally known as Amabeere ga Nyinamwiru.
Check into your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Habituation Experience
Have an early breakfast and head to the the park’s headquarters for briefing, registration and be assigned a chimpanzee group to visit. A ranger will take you through the rules and regulations to follow while in the presence of chimpanzees.
Together with researchers, scientists and rangers, you will head into the forests of Kibale National Park for a chimpanzee habituation experience, for this experience you will have to wake up every early to be able to meet the chimpanzees before they wake up from their nests to go searching for food in the forests.
You will follow the chimpanzees throughout the day and you will spot other primates include black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, mangabeys and see different bird species including black bee eater, crowned eagle among others.
After the experience, you will return to the park’s headquarters where you will be rewarded by chimpanzee habituation certificates then to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, you will head to Bigodi Swamp for a guided nature walk. The swamp is owned by the local community and on the walk, you will spot many primates including black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons, mangabeys and many birds. A walk in Bigodi Wetland is designed and managed by the local community surrounding the park, all the fees paid are used to benefit the local community living around the park. In the evening, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

After a leisurely, you will embark on a journey back to Kampala. The journey is approximately 6 hours with a lunch break in Masaka and a stopover for photos at the Equator Crossing in Kayabwe. Your driver will drop you off either at the hotel or at Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight.
