1 Day Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari

This 1 Day Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari is only possible if you are already in Kabale or Kisoro towns of Uganda, which are nearby to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is Uganda’s leading gorilla tracking and habituation destination. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in southwestern Uganda, about 9 hours from Kampala by road. Because of the distance, a 1 Day Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari from Kampala/Entebbe is not possible. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is, however, about 1 hour from Kisoro town and Kabale, depending on the sectors of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to be visited.

With over 23 habituated gorilla families in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, you are able to have an encounter with the giant gorillas up close, with a gorilla trekking experience. With this 1 Day Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari, you get an opportunity to come up close with the mountain gorillas, which share a 98% DNA with humans!

Detailed Itinerary of 1 Day Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari

After your breakfast at the hotel, our safari guide will pick you up a 6 am and proceed to transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Once at the headquarters, meet other trackers for a briefing about your impending gorilla tracking adventure. During your briefing, you shall be notified of the different gorilla trekking rules to be followed.

You shall be placed in groups of 8 and then allocated a gorilla family to track, in the company of park rangers and guides. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park can take anything from 2 hours to 7 hours or more, depending on the location of the gorilla family allocated. During the trek to find the gorillas, enjoy the scenic beauty of the park, spot birds, insects, and different plant species, as well as listen to the sounds of nature in the impenetrable rainforest.

Once you encounter the mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, you will be allowed 1 hour in their presence. Watch them play, eat, groom each other or even breastfeed if in luck. Take as many pictures as you want, and videos (do not use a flashlight while at it).

After your 1-hour encounter with the gorillas, trek back to the starting point, get rewarded with a gorilla trekking certificate. Meet your guide and proceed on a transfer back to your hotel in Kisoro. This ends your 1 Day Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari.
