Hiking safaris in Uganda has gained more of recent with much of the remote un tapped destinations to explore. Uganda has an added advantage of the Western arm of the Great Rift Valley which leads to the formation of good scenic topography in Uganda like Mountains, hills, volcanic rocks and valleys.

Volcanic eruption in Uganda left the pearl of Africa with many high peaks hence creating a fertile soil for hiking tours in the country. Focus East Africa experts brings you many hiking packages which are unique and rewarding in experience. Hiking safaris in Uganda favor both experienced and inexperienced hikers as the trails can be managed easily apart from the mountains of the moon which is one of the world’s most challenging mountaineering after Everest.

Hiking is a complementary activity to most of the best Ugandan packages like Gorilla trekking, Chimpanzee trekking, and Golden monkey trekking and hiking to the top of the Murchison falls after the bottom boat cruise. For one to successfully achieve his or her dream to see the primates of Uganda one has to be with certain level of fitness since it involves some hiking in Bwindi Impenetrable forest or Mgahinga National park.

Focus East Africa offers you great hiking packages both long and short hiking safaris depending on your fitness level and available time for the safari. Our most popular hiking areas are Mt Elgon, Mt Rwenzori, Mt Gahinga, Mt Muhabura and Mt Sabinyo, its realy gift of nature that all the above mountains are incorporated in national parks giving one to kill two birds with one stone hence trek Gorillas in Mgahinga and hike any of the volcanic mountains of Sabinyo, Gahinga, Muhabura.

These three ranges are located in the border of Uganda, Rwanda and Congo hence when one is on the peak can have a nice view of all the three countries. Hiking in Uganda is incomplete if one does not hike the mountains of the moon, this is the highest mountain in Uganda and second highest in East Africa. It’s one of the only mountains along Equator with permanent snow at the peak. Hiking to Margarita takes between 6 to 9 days depends on the physical fitness of the client. We offer hiking through the central circuit unless by request we can use any other route but the most challenging and scenic is the central circuit.

Other hiking tours take you to the Eastern part of Uganda to Mt Elgon one of the largest dormant volcanic mountains in Africa bordering Uganda and Kenya. The park also has other animals and birds to explore not forgetting caves and Sipi falls.
