Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) and the Ugandan Golf Union(UGU) have today (Monday 18th February 2019) launched a joint partnership to promote golf tourism.
It so happens that Uganda has been named among the top 4 tourist destinations in Africa a few weeks ago and this could not leave the Golfing Sector untouched. It’s noted on average that 5-10% of the travelers world wide travel for golf tourism. Therefore, UTB and UGU have come together to launch a partnership the will see them tap into this gold mine (Golf Tourism).
Speaking during the press conference that occurred at Uganda Golf Club, Stephen Asiimwe said that UTB has made a number of partnerships to promote golf tourism in Uganda.
Stephen Asiimwe went on to explain, “Uganda is strategically located in that each of our magnificent golf courses happen to be near a major tourist attraction in the country for example Jinja Golf Course is near the Source Of The Nile, Entebbe Golf Course near Lake Victoria, Mbale Golf Course Near the mount Elgon.”
The event that was also honoured by the UGU President Kihika Innocent saw them sign a memorandum of understanding and Mr Kihika had this to say.
“This partnership is a great opportunity for us as UGU to partner with the leading tourism marketer in Uganda, UTB, and we believe tourism and golf will be promoted greatly. Uganda has 18 golf clubs and among which we have the Lake Serena Golf club which is a state of the art Facility and is the best Golf Club in Uganda.” Mr Kihika explains.
With this partnership tourists can come to Uganda and Play golf and later tour the magnificent scenes of this county ranging from national parks, mountains, water bodies, state of the art golf courses, e.t.c
