Day 1. Arusha to Rogai Gate to Simba Camp (2600m)
Hikking time 3-4 hrs
Pick up from your hotel in Arusha after your breakfast, drive to the park headquarters (Marangu) for registration and then transfer to Rongai gate where we will start our 7 days Kilimanjaro Hiking Safari (Rongai Route). The drive will take you like 3 hours from Marangu to Rongai gate where you will meet your guide or ranger and the potters accompanied by the senior chef of the trip.
You will begin the hike from Nale Moru Village in the small winding path crossing maize fields before entering pine forest. The trail is much gentle through beautiful scenery as we ascend to our camp for our dinner and overnight at Simba camp
Day 2. Simba camp to Second Cave
Hiking Time 2 – 3hours
Taking our breakfast served, we proceed with our hike to Second cave as our bodies adapt the climate of the area as altitude changes as we know that the higher you go the cooler it becomes this makes us feel the height we have reached now. We will reach around lunch time of 7 days Kilimanjaro Hiking Safari (Rongai Route), the chef makes hot lunch as we are relaxing around the cave. In the afternoon move around the cave as we relax more dinner and overnight
Day 3. Second Cave to Kikelewa Cave (3600m)
Hiking Time: 3 – 4 hours.
After heavy breakfast, we continue with our hike towards Kibo reaching to Kikelewa cave late in the afternoon. You will start viewing and feeling the breeze of the Kilimanjaro as you see the water streams in the caves. Dinner and overnight at your camp
Day 4. Kikelewa Cave to Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4330m)
Hiking Time: 3 – 4 hours.
This is the starting point of the challenge as you hike slowly on steep climb up grassy slopes, you will be observing the open wilderness, and the vegetation zone ends shortly when you reach the camp at Mawenzi Tarn. We will reach in the afternoon the chef will make some hot lunch for us as we relax and get used to the environment. After lunch relax around the camp take much pictures and enjoy the camp. Dinner and overnight
Day 5. Mawenzi Tarn Camp to Kibo Hut (4700m)
Hiking Time: 4 – 5 hours.
Wake up early for your breakfast after we continue with our journey ascending on the East side of Kibo crossing the saddle between Mwenzi and Kibo taking around 4-5 hours depending on your physical ability to reach to the Kibo Hut. After reaching have long day rest as we prepare for the next one day challenge to the summit of the mountain.
Day 6. Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak (5895)
Hiking time: 8 hours to reach Uhuru
On this day wake up early take heavy breakfast as we start our great remarkable day of 7 days Kilimanjaro Hiking Safari (Rongai Route) as we strive to the summit of Uhuru Peak. The hike starts at the night with light touches on our fore heads passing through rocky path to the Hans Meyer Cave also good resting spot. The path then Zigzags up to Gillman’s point which is located on the crater rim. This is one of the most challenging area of hiking as the section is steep with a lot of stones requiring well great physical and mental efforts.
From Gillman’s point you will encounter snow all the way up to Uhuru peak the highest point in Africa raise up our country flags take enough pictures as our happiness is on the high gear.
After we descend down to Horombo hut for our dinner and overnight . The total journey for the day is like 14hrs
Day 7. Horombo Hut to Marangu gate
Hiking time: 6 hours to reach Uhuru
After your hot African breakfast, we come to an end of our 7 days Kilimanjaro Hiking Safari (Rongai Route)start our journey to descend passing through Mandara hut down to Marangu gate. Welcome back!!!! Register yourself and get certificates of the climb, the certificates are in two categories those who finish at the peak get Gold certificates and those who remain around Gillman’s sector will get green certificates. Be met with your driver guide and drive back to Arusha.
