6 Days Rwanda Primates Safari

6 days Rwanda primate safari is designed to suit travelers who want to explore in details all the primates of Rwanda from the endangered Mountain Gorillas to the most playful black faced monkeys in Nyungwe Forest National park. 6 days Rwanda primate safari takes you close to the 13 primates living in the land of 1000 hills.

Day 1: Pick-up & transfer to Volcanoes national park

You will be met by our company representative your driver / guide to depart to Volcanoes national park as we start our 6 days Rwanda primate safari  Estimated time is 3 hours through the rolling Rwanda hills. Arrive in Musanze town and connect to your lodge for lunch and spend the afternoon at leisure preparing for your next day activity dinner will be served and spend a night.

Accommodation and Meals: 5 Volcanoes lodge/Le Bambou Gorilla lodge/Kinigi Guesthouse.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking

After breakfast, you will drive to Kinigi-park headquarters where you will be briefed by the ranger guides carrying along your packed lunch and water. You will then start the gorilla trekking through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virunga. Gorilla trekking is the highlight of our 6 days Rwanda primate safari .Trekking gorillas may take 1-8 hours depending on the movement of the Gorillas. After trekking, you may have an optional Ibyi wacu community walk or stay relaxing at the lodge, dinner and overnight at the either of the reserved lodges as above.

Day 3: Golden monkey tracking and transfer to Lake Kivu

After breakfast, you will go for Golden monkey trekking in Volcanoes national park, the activity has same procedure as Gorilla trekking however Golden monkeys trekking lasts 3 to 4 hours with only 1 hours viewing the primates. Return to your lodge where you will relax and have lunch.

Drive to Rubavu town at the shores of Lake Kivu where you will spend the rest of the afternoon enjoying the shores while taking boat trips to the island of the lake, a town tour and relaxing at the shores as you enjoy the breeze. Dinner and overnight stay at your reserved resort hotel

Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe national park

After enjoying your delicious breakfast, embark on your journey to Nyungwe forest national park which is a 6 hours drive from Lake Kivu with lunch en route. Arrive at the park early afternoon and connect for a canopy walk-a swing bridge 50 meters in length that is suspended from large trees. You will be able to see the amazing rainforest with a bird’s eye view, spotting wildlife moving about below you. Before night fall, you will connect to your reserved lodge where you will have dinner and spend a night

Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking

Enjoy breakfast and go for briefing about the endangered chimpanzees before entering the forest in search of the active and playful fellows in Nyungwe forest. The Chimpanzees are quite difficult to spot as they jump from one tree to another as they shy off from people. Chimpanzee tracking usually takes about 3-6 hours depending on their movement. On finding them, spend an hour while taking pictures and videos.  You will then return to your accommodation for lunch.

After lunch, spend the rest of your evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight at either of the chosen lodges

Day 6: Return to Kigali and Departure

After breakfast, depart for Kigali, in case you missed a city tour on day 1, do a city tour including the market visits; handicrafts shop visits, genocide museum visit. Transfer to Kigali Airport to find your departure flight. Marking the end of your 6 days Rwanda primate safari.
