10 Days Gorillas, chimpanzees and Wildlife Safari
10 days gorillas, chimpanzees and wildlife safari starts in Kigali with pick up ahead of an exciting tour around different national parks in Rwanda such as Nyungwe forest national park, Volcanoes national park and also Akagera national park.
During this tour, you will engage in a number of activities in Rwanda such as a city tour around Kigali, canopy walk, chimpanzee trekking, cultural tours, gorilla trekking, golden monkey trekking, hiking mount Bisoke, game drives and also a boat cruise on Lake Ihema. This 10 days Rwanda tour will start and end in Rwanda.
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to your hotel in Kigali
On the 1st day of your 10 Days Gorillas, chimpanzees and Wildlife Safari, Our guide will welcome you upon your arrival at the airport in Kigali. You will be driven to your hotel for check in. depending on your time of arrival you will engage in a city tour around Kigali and visit the genocide memorial site before returning to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay at Des Milles Collines Hotel.
Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park and Canopy walk
After having breakfast at your hotel in Kigali, you will be driven to Nyungwe Forest National Park. You will enjoy beautiful views of the hills and countryside as you drive to the national park. You will also have a stop at the king’s palace in Nyanza and get to know more about the culture and history of Rwanda.
You will also have a stop in Butare town where you will have lunch. After lunch you will proceed to Nyungwe national park where you will engage in a canopy walk along a suspended bridge which is about 50 meters in length. You will also enjoy seeing wildlife species during the canopy walk and also enjoy views of the rainforest and after engaging in this activity, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Gisakura Visitor Centre.
Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking
On the 3rd day of your 10 Days Gorillas, chimpanzees and Wildlife Safari, You will have breakfast early in the morning at your lodge ahead of your briefing at the park headquarters. You will start your chimpanzee trekking adventure in Nyungwe forest national park which can take up to 6 hours and you will also enjoy seeing other primate species in the forest as well as various wildlife species.
After the chimpanzee trek, you will return to your lodge where you will have dinner and overnight at Gisakura Visitor Centre.
Day 4: Transfer to Ruhengeri
You will have breakfast at your lodge ahead of your drive to Ruhengeri. You will also visit the Iby’Iwacu village where you will enjoy a cultural experience and get to know about the way of life and culture of the people of Rwanda.
After the cultural tour, your guide will drive you to your lodge for check in and your dinner and overnight at Muhabura Gorilla Lodge.
Day 5: Gorilla trekking in Parc National Des Volcans
Your breakfast will be served early at your lodge ahead of your gorilla trekking experience in Volcanoes national park. You will have a briefing at the park headquarters by the RDB officials before set off for the gorilla tracking. You will be joined by rangers during your gorilla tracking experience in the forest where you will follow the rugged terrain as you search for the gorillas. During the gorilla tracking experience, you will also encounter other primate species in the forest as well as various bird species. After this experience, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Muhabura Gorilla Lodge.
Day 6: Golden Monkey tracking
After having your breakfast at your lodge, you will engage in a golden monkey trekking experience. The golden monkey trek takes about 2 to 3 hours as you explore the forest. After engaging in the activity, you will return to your lodge.
You will spend the rest of the day at leisure and dinner and overnight will be at Muhabura Gorilla Lodge.
Day 7: Hiking Mountain Bisoke
After breakfast at your Lodge, you will set out for a one day hike on Mount Bisoke. This will give you views of the beautiful slopes and also get a chance to see the forest while on the mountain. After your hike, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Muhabura Gorilla Lodge.
Day 8: drive to Akagera National Park via Kigali and Afternoon Game Drive
On the 8th day of your 10 Days Gorillas, chimpanzees and Wildlife Safari, after breakfast on the eighth day of your Rwanda safari, you will be driven to Kigali where you will have lunch and also a short city tour to the Gisozi Genocide Memorial site. You will continue your drive to Akagera national Park and on your way to the national park, you will enjoy views of the country’s beauty and also the life style of its people.
Upon arrival in Akagera national park, you will go for engage in an afternoon game drive in the southern section of the park. Look out for animals such as elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles and many more like Antelopes. You will have dinner and overnight at Akagera Game Lodge.
Day 9: Morning game drive and Boat ride on Lake Ihema
Early in the morning after having breakfast at your lodge, you will engage in a game drive and enjoy searching for wildlife species that you may have missed out in the previous game drive.
After your morning game drive, you will return to your lodge for a small relaxation as you wait for lunch. After lunch, you will engage in a boat ride on Lake Ihema which will offer you with beautiful views of the surrounding areas, hills and swamps. You will also enjoy seeing hippos, crocodiles as well as different bird species. You will return back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Akagera Game Lodge as the day before.
Day 10: Transfer to Kigali city and departure
You will have early morning breakfast at your lodge before checking out. Your guide will drive you to Kigali city. Depending on your time of departure, you will be transferred to the Airport for your flight back home or your hotel in Kigali as you will advise.
