4 Days Congo Lowland Gorillas and Nyungwe Chimpanzee Tracking Safari is a short Eastern Congo and Rwanda safari tour that takes you to the Kahuzi Biega National Park for Eastern Lowland gorilla trekking and Nyungwe National Park for chimpanzee tracking.
Day 1: Pick-up from Kigali Rwanda/Cyangugu and cross to Bukavu
Depending on your location in Kigali, our company representative-guide/driver will pick you up and drive for about 7 hours through Nyungwe National Park with amazing rolling hill in Rusizi with stopovers for lunch and refreshing. Cross through Cyangugu border to Bukavu town in Democratic Republic of Congo. On arrival at Bukavu, nearest town to Kahuzi Biega, advance to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Panorama
Day 2: Lowland gorilla trekking – Cyangugu
After enjoying your breakfast at the lodge, drive to the park headquarters for about 45 minutes for briefing about the Eastern lowland gorillas. You will then set off to your fascinating experience of the lowland gorillas in the valleys of Kahuzi as you encounter different mammals, birds and primates. It’s usually a 1-6 hours’ experience of the jungle, depending on their movement while watching them interact/play with each other as you take photos and videos.
You will then descend back and meet up with your driver to drive back to Rwanda. You will cross and connect to your hotel for Dinner and overnight at Emeraude Resort.
Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park, Canopy Walk
In the morning after breakfast, check out and proceed to transfer to Nyungwe National Park. You will have amazing views of the area. After lunch, you will embark on a guided nature walk along the famous canopy walkway bridge- a swing bridge 50 meters in length that is suspended from large trees. You will be able to see the amazing rainforest with a bird’s eye view, spotting wildlife moving about below. This hike takes only 2 hours.
Proceed to the lodge, check in and relax as you wait for dinner and an overnight stay at Nyungwe TopHill View

Day 4: Chimpanzee Trek, Transfer Back to Kigali.
Enjoy breakfast and go for briefing before entering the forest, searching for the active and playful fellows in Nyungwe forest. The Chimpanzees are easy to spot, as they jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing. Chimp tracking usually takes about 3 hours. You will then have your packed lunch and later return back to base where you will meet up with your driver guide.
After having your packed lunch, meet up with your guide and drive back to Kigali. Upon your arrival in Kigali city, you can choose to have your driver drop you off at any hotel of your choice or at Kigali international airport where you will board your flight back home.
