16 days Kenya and Uganda safari is a tour which will start in Nairobi and you will engage in a wildlife viewing safari across different parks such as the famous Masai Mara reserve, Lake Nakuru national park and also Amboseli national park in Kenya.
You will also visit Uganda during the safari and visit destinations like Kibale national park for chimpanzee tracking, game drives and boat cruise in Queen Elizabeth national park, gorilla tracking in Bwindi national park and white water rafting in Jinja. The 16 days Kenya and Uganda safari will end with drop off in Entebbe.
Day 1; arrival
You will be picked up from the airport by your guide who will welcome you and you will have a short briefing about your safari on your way to your hotel for check in. Depending on your time of arrival, you will have a city tour around Nairobi. You will have your dinner and overnight at Le Maison Royale hotel Nairobi
Day 2; drive to Masai Mara national reserve
After you have had your breakfast and checked out of your hotel in Nairobi city, your guide will drive you to one of the famous destinations in Kenya which is Masai Mara national reserve for an amazing and exciting wildlife viewing experience.
During your drive to Masai Mara national reserve, you will enjoy views of the rift valley escarpment as you drive through Kenya’s scenic highlands. You will have a stopover in Narok town and later proceed to Masai Mara national reserve where you will see different wildlife species grazing in the nearby savannah plains as you continue your drive to your lodge for check in as you prepare to have your dinner and to spend the night at AA Mara lodge.
Day 3; morning and evening game drives
You will start your day with breakfast served at your lodge as you prepare to go for your morning game drive in Masai Mara national reserve. During your game drive you will search for a variety of wildlife species such as the predators like lions, leopards, cheetahs as well as other wildlife species like elephants, buffalos, hartebeest, zebras, antelopes as well as wildebeest which are among the spectacular sights at this destination especially during the time of the wildebeest migration as large numbers of wildebeest move around the savannah plains in search of greener pastures.
You will have lunch after your morning game drive and this will be followed with another game drive later in the evening to explore more of the wilderness of Masai Mara national reserve which is also known for sightings of the big five which includes elephants, lions, leopards, buffalos and rhinos. You will return to your lodge where your dinner will be served and you will spend the night in the comfort of your lodge at AA Mara lodge.
Day 4; drive to Lake Nakuru national park
You will have breakfast at your lodge in Masai Mara national reserve and then check out of the lodge as you continue your journey to Lake Nakuru national park across the rift valley escarpment as you enjoy the beautiful scenery around you. You will have an en route game drive during which you will see wildlife species such as giraffes, rhinos, gazelles, buffalos, antelopes, reedbucks, elands, impalas among others.
Lunch will be served at your lodge after check in and after lunch, you will have another game drive in Lake Nakuru national park and you will visit the flamingo filled Lake Nakuru which is a good birding spot to see flocks of flamingos along the lake shores as well as other bird species and wildlife species grazing in the nearby plains. You will be driven back to your lodge after your evening game drive to have your dinner and overnight at Zziwa bush lodge
Day 5; drive to Amboseli national park
on the 5th day of your 16 days Kenya and Uganda safari , Breakfast will be served before you check out of your lodge and continue your drive to Amboseli national park through the rift valley escarpment as you proceed to Nairobi where you will have a stopover for lunch.
After you have had your lunch, you will continue your drive to Amboseli national park where you will have an en route game viewing experience to see wildlife species along the way such as herds of elephants which this national park is known for having and you will also enjoy views of Mt Kilimanjaro on your way to your lodge for check in and to have your dinner and to also spend the night at AA Amboseli lodge
Day 6; full day in Amboseli national park
Your full day adventure in Amboseli national park will begin with breakfast at your lodge and then your guide will drive you around the wilderness of the national park as you search for the different wildlife species such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, hippos, zebras, gazelles, kudu, giraffes, elands as well as various bird species.
You will have lunch and later you will have another wildlife viewing experience and to enjoy photography as you catch sight of the beautiful sunset with the back drop of Mt Kilimanjaro. After your evening game drive, you will return to your lodge for your dinner and overnight at AA Amboseli lodge.
Day 7; drive to Nairobi
You will have your breakfast and then you will check out of the lodge as you prepare for your journey back to Nairobi where you will check in at your hotel for dinner and overnight at Le Maison Royale hotel.
Day 8; flight to Entebbe international airport
You will have breakfast and then check out of the hotel in Nairobi as you proceed for your flight to Entebbe international airport. You will be met at the Entebbe airport by your guide and you will have a briefing of your safari and then you will proceed to your hotel for check in and also have your dinner and overnight at 2 friend’s hotel Entebbe.
Day 9: drive to Kibale national park
After breakfast at your hotel in Entebbe, you will start the journey to Kibale forest national park which is located in western Uganda. The journey takes about 5 to 6 hours drive and on the way you will have lunch and enjoy stunning views of the beautiful scenery, landscape, tea plantation, Rwenzori Mountains, views of the crater lakes among others. Upon arrival in Kibale national park, you will continue to check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Isunga lodge
Day 10: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
Chimpanzee trekking,
On the 10th day of your 16 days Kenya and Uganda safari , After an early breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to transfer to the Kanyachu park headquarters for a chimpanzee trekking briefing. After the briefing you will be allocated an experienced park guide and start trekking in the forest in search of chimpanzees. During trekking you will be rewarded with views of other primates like l’hoest monkeys, red tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey, views of different bird species among others. once the chimpanzees are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their environment which helps you to watch them feed, play, fight, hunt, rest, observe their behaviors, take photos and record videos.
After the one hour encounter with the chimpanzees you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet up with your driver guide and start the journey to Queen Elizabeth national park. On the way you will have en-route lunch and enjoy spectacular views of the beautiful scenery, landscape, Rwenzori Mountains, tea plantations among others on the way to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Elephant hub lodge
Day 11: Morning game drive/ lion tracking experience and afternoon boat cruise
Morning game drive/ lion tracking experience
After an early breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for a morning game drive in Kasenyi plains. During the game drive you will be able to spot different animals like elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, Uganda kobs, waterbucks which will be grazing in open savannah plains, view predators like lions, leopards, hyenas which will be looking for a morning hunt, view bird species among others. After the game drive you will have your lunch.
Afternoon boat cruise
After lunch you will go for an interesting boat cruise on Kazinga channel a water channel that connect lake Edward and lake George. During the boat cruise which takes about 2 to 3 hours, you will be able to view large herds of hippos and Nile crocodiles in water, view buffaloes, elephants, warthogs, waterbucks drinking water along the shores, view water birds like hornbills, cormorants, fish eagles, king fisher’s among others. After the boat ride you will return to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight as above.
Day 12: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park
On the 12th day of your 16 days Kenya and Uganda safari , You will enjoy a relaxed breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park. On the way you will have a stopover in Ishasha sector in the southern part of Queen Elizabeth national park where you will be able to view the famous tree climbing lions which will be lazily lying up in acacia/ fig tree branches.
After the game drive in Ishasha sector you will have lunch and then continue the journey to the park with great views of the beautiful landscape, countryside, Kigezi hills, terraced farmlands among others. Upon arrival in Bwindi impenetrable national park you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Buhoma haven lodge
Day 13: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park
Gorilla trekking,
After an early breakfast, you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. After the briefing you will be allocated a gorilla family to trek and a park guide who is knowledgeable about the mountain gorillas.
During Gorilla trekking you will be able to view other primate species, different bird species, plants among others and once the mountain gorillas are found, you will be able to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to observe their behaviors, watch them carry out their daily activities like feeding, playing, breastfeeding, grooming young ones, take photos and record videos. After the one hour encounter with the gentle giants, you will drive back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight as above.
Day 14: drive to Kampala
After having breakfast at your lodge in Bwindi national park, your guide will drive you back to Kampala. You will have a stop for lunch in Mbarara and after lunch you will be driven to your hotel in Kampala for check in and dinner and overnight stay at Forest cottages.
Day 15; drive to Jinja and white water rafting experience
You will wake up early for your transfer from Kampala to Jinja where you will take part in a rafting experience. You will have a briefing about the rafting experience by experts ahead of the activity. After the rafting experience you will be driven to your hotel for check in. You will have dinner and overnight stay at 2 friends hotel Jinja.
Day 16; departure
After having breakfast at your hotel in Jinja, your guide will drive you to Entebbe where you will be dropped off at the airport which will bring your safari to an end.
