Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls
Early in the morning our Focus East Africa Tours Guide will pick you up from your hotel for a transfer to Murchison Falls National Park as we start our Uganda Rwanda Safari. You will have a brief stopover at the Ziwa Rhino sanctuary in Nakasongola to track the Rhinos and later proceed to the park. Upon arrival in Murchison falls, you will vosot the top of the falls for a remarkable sight of the Nile crushing through a narrow gorge of 8m wide before plunging 43m deep into the devil’s cauldron. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 2: Game drive and Launch cruise
After an early breakfast, you will go for a morning game viewing drive in quest for animals like Lions, waterbuck, buffaloes, Jackson’s hartebeest, Oribi, Rothschild’s giraffe among others. Return to the lodge for lunch and go for an afternoon launch cruise for a wide view of Hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, several water birds such as the elusive shoebill stork. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Kibale national park
After an early breakfast, you will transfer to Kibale National Park Uganda’s chimpanzee trekking haven. You will reach Kibale in the afternoon and proceed to check-in to your lodge. You will spend the remaining part of the day relaxing to recover from the long drive
Day 4: Chimp trekking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
After an early morning breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a routine briefing about the chimp trekking activity which is one of the key activities of our Uganda Rwanda Safari. After which you will proceed to the forest for your chimpanzee trekking adventure. Kibale forest is also home to other primate species such as the Colobus monkeys, grey checked mangabey, red Colobus, blue monkeys, Olive baboons among others that you will see in the forest. You will return to your lodge for lunch and later depart for Queen Elizabeth national park. Arrive in the evening for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at your lodge
Day 5: Game drive and Boat cruise
You will go for an early morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains where you will see several wildlife including the bush buck, Uganda Kob, topi, Defassa waterbuck, and Cape buffaloes, Lions, elephants and many more. After your game viewing drive, you will return to your lodge for a late breakfast and have a little rest as you wait for lunch. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a boat ride along the Kazinga Channel where you will see several water loving animals including hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, various bird species such as red chest, papyrus Gonolek, pink backed pelicans, malachite kingfishers, yellow crown, water thick-knee, yellow-billed stork, shoe bill stock among others. Return at the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After an early morning breakfast, you will drive to Bwindi impenetrable national park home to half of the endangered Mountain gorillas in the world. It is a picturesque drive with an en route game drive in Ishasha sector popular for the tree climbing lions. Arriving in the evening for dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 7: Gorilla trekking
Our safari guide will pick you up from the hotel parking lot after your early morning breakfast and escort you to rangers’ tourism office before 8.00am. This is the day we all wait and its the climax of our Uganda Rwanda Safari as we encounter the highlight of the Uganda Rwanda Safari tour. You will be registered, checked for health and body fitness and then grouped as per gorilla family to be trekked. The ranger guides will then lead you into the thick forest for this once in a lifetime Uganda tour adventure. They will locate the gorillas feeding and going about their routine activities allowing you an hour to interact with and take photos of them. Return to your lodge for lunch and rest.
Day 8: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park and Musanze caves tour
Early in the morning you will transfer to volcanoes national park Rwanda’s gorilla trekking destinations. Upon arrival you will checking to your lodge where you will have your lunch. In the afternoon you will go for a tour of the Musanze Caves. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 9: 2nd Gorilla tracking
After your early breakfast, you will transfer to the park headquarters for a routine briefing by the park warden about the do’s and don’ts you must adhere to while trekking and while with the Gorillas. You will thereafter be assigned a gorilla family to track.
You will then proceed to track the Gentle giants in the forest with the help of the park rangers who will guide you to the particular families last known position for you to begin your trek. Since the gorillas are always moving about the forest, the gorilla trekking will last between 1-5 hours.
Upon meeting the Gorilla’s, you will be allowed a maximum of 1 hour with the apes, in which you can also take photographs after which you will return to your lodge. There is an optional afternoon trip to the Ibylwacu cultural Centre or Dian fossey hike which can be given upon request with a complimentary fee. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge
Day 10: Kigali city tour and Departure
After a heavy breakfast, you will transfer to Kigali for a city tour where you will visit the Genocide memorial grounds, art and craft shops, museum, local markets among others places and later proceed to the airport for your scheduled flight.
