Rwanda Gorilla Permit is very necessary and a must to obtain for any Tourist who wants to go for Gorilla trekking. However one must book in advance for Gorilla trekking permits since they are scarce. Mountain Gorillas in Rwanda inhabit the Volcanoes National park. The Rwanda Development Board (RDB) is a governing body of Tourism sectors in Rwanda.
The Rwanda Gorilla Permit costs $1500 USD for non-Residents, and a 30% discount for visitors who are visiting the Rwanda National parks (Akagera national park), Nyungwe National park for 3 days.
15% discount for conference guests who stay pre and post MICE events and later option for Gorillas.
$15000 for private Gorilla trekking for an entire group.
USD 30.000 for a minimum of 3 visitors for 3 consecutive days.
Tour operators are reliable thus booking for your permit earlier would do better. Volcanoes national park is a home to 10 Mountain Gorilla families and each group is visited by 1to 8 people per a day and for only 1 hour.
The trekking time starts early morning with a briefing at the park headquarters from 7am, the guests will be requested to present their Rwanda Gorilla Permit and passports. Time for having an encounter with the mountain gorillas may not be guaranteed however trekkers must return to the park headquarters before 6pm.
For a gorilla ceremony by the park headquarters. There is a 50% fee any visitor who might be showing signs of illness. Any visitor is not allowed to trek the Mountain Gorillas when declared sick by the park warden.
