8 days Uganda gorilla and chimpanzee trekking and Masai Mara safari 8 days Uganda gorilla and chimpanzee trekking and Masai Mara safari is a tour which starts in Entebbe or Kampala before an exciting adventure of seeing chimpanzees in Kibale national park and also a gorilla trekking tour in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park. You will also take a flight from Entebbe airport to Masai Mara for amazing game viewing in Kenya and the safari will end with drop off in Nairobi. Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Kibale forest national park Depending on your location, you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Kibale national park. The journey takes about 5 to 6 hours’ drive and on the way you will enjoy spectacular views of the local people, farmlands, traditional homesteads, Rwenzori Mountains, tea plantations among others. You will have en-route lunch in Fort Portal and then continue the journey to Kibale national park and upon arrival you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Isunga lodge-budget or Chimpanzee guest house-midrange. Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale national park and Bigodi swamp walk Chimpanzee trekking, After an early breakfast you will be driven to Kanyachu Visitors Centre for briefing on the chimpanzee trekking. After the briefing you will be allocated a chimpanzee family to trek and a park guide who is well conversant with trails in the forest. Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale forest national park takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on their location because they like to move from one place to another in search of food and once the chimpanzees have been located, you will spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to learn more about their life style, behaviors, watch them feed, enjoy the juveniles playing up in the trees, take photos and record videos with a flash less camera. After the one hour encounter with the chimpanzees you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet up with your driver guide and return to the lodge for lunch. Bigodi swamp walk After lunch you will go for an interesting nature walk in Bigodi swamp where you will be able to view different primate species, birds, mammals, plant and tree species among others. After the swamp walk, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight as above. Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park You will have breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park. On the way you will have en-route lunch and enjoy stunning views of the terraced farmlands, Kigezi hills, traditional homesteads, crater lakes among others. Upon arrival you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Buhoma haven lodge-midrange or buhoma community rest camp-budget. Day 4: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park After an early breakfast at your lodge, you will be driven by your guide to the park headquarters for a briefing of the gorilla trek in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park. After briefing, you will continue into the forest in groups to look out for the gorillas in their natural habitat. When you find the gorillas in the forest, you will spend 1 hour with them, enjoy taking photos and observing the gorillas before returning to the briefing point to meet your guide. You will be driven back to your lodge for dinner and to spend the night as the day before. Day 5: drive to Entebbe After breakfast at the lodge, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your guide to transfer to Entebbe. On the way you will have a stopover in Mbarara town for lunch where after you will continue the journey with another stopover at the Equator to take photos and buy souvenirs. You will proceed to Entebbe where your guide will drive you to the hotel for check in and you will prepare to have dinner and overnight stay Best western hotel Entebbe (midrange), Papyrus guesthouse (budget). Day 6; flight to Masai Mara You will have breakfast at the hotel in Entebbe and after checking out; you will be driven to Entebbe airport for your flight to Masai Mara. On arrival in Masai Mara, you will be met by your guide in Kenya who will welcome you and you will proceed to the lodge. After having lunch, you will also engage in a game drive around Masai Mara and search for wildlife species like elephants, lions, leopards, buffalos, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and many others. You will later be driven to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Mitimingi eco lodge (budget), AA Mara lodge (midrange) Day 7; full day game drive in Masai Mara You will have an early breakfast at your lodge ahead of your game viewing activity in the open savannah plains of the reserve. You will search for a variety of wildlife species in Masai Mara such as the big five which include lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos and rhinos as well as other wildlife species such as such as giraffes, elephants, wildebeest, elands, zebras, topis among others. You will enjoy your lunch after your morning game drive as you enjoy the beautiful scenery around the reserve and watch wildlife species grazing in the plains. After lunch, you will have another game drive in the reserve and then proceed to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Mitimingi eco lodge (budget), AA Mara lodge (midrange) Day 8; drive to Nairobi After having breakfast and checking out of the lodge, your guide will drive you to Nairobi and drop you off at the airport or your hotel in Nairobi which will bring the safari to an end.
