KimaniWater Falls

KimaniWater Falls : Kimani Forest Reserve has the most beautiful waterfalls in East Africa. It has seven waterfalls the Kimani, Nyaugenge, Allan’s, Lyamakonokwila, Ikovu, Kipengere, and Merere waterfalls. These famous Kimani waterfalls are in Mpanga Kipengere Forest Reserve in Njombe Region near Mbeya region in Makete district, Tanzania. The falls are about 110 Kilometers from Mbeya City. It is a two-hour drive to get there.

The Kimani falls are the most beautiful. They are waterfalls on many rocky cliffs, and you can go down to see the ponds and the water as it falls. Also, it has quality too, for example, all the ground is suitable, and it is like a swimming pool with a flowing river. You can come and enjoy this scene with your friends, your family, or even your neighbors.

In the spring season, you will find all the forest around the falls covered in green from the Tanzania-Zambia Highway to entering the Forest Reserve. It is pleasant when it rains, and green is shining all the way and looks attractive.

An elevated viewing point is a special place that has prepared with stairs for going down the waterfalls. Kipembo Slave Route 

Kipembo was a burning area for the tired and sick slaves. The Oman Arab traders captured the slaves from the interiors of Tanzania during the 17th century. On transporting the slaves to the coast, some slaves got tired and burnt in the Kipembo area, KimaniWater Falls.

Chief Mkwawa’s Cave

The cave of Chief Mkwawa (the leader of the Hehe tribe of Tanzania) is very close to Kimani Waterfall. In visiting Kimani waterfalls, you will have the opportunity to visit and see the cave that Chief Mkwawa of Hehe used to hide his forces during the conflict with the German colonialists in the 1980s. The chief also used the cave to hide during an extreme attack by the Germans.

A few meters from Chief Mkwawas cave, Mkwawa Bath place is in the Kimani River. The bathing place has two stairs that he used to go down and up. Ancient Tools

Chief Mkwawa used many ancient tools in Kimani Forest. First of all, there is a millstone. The Chief used the stone to grind grains such as millet, sorghum, salt, foods, and root medicines. Secondly, there are remains of stoves. There are three stones used to make a stove for burning and cooking. Lastly, there are pot remains (cylindrical clay curving containers) used for cooking foods and boiling natural medicines.

There are many more attractions of the Natural Flower Zone (Orchid Flowers) in the Ibanga area, different types of rocks, natural vegetation with miombo tree species, a collection of knocking stones, and Yellow Baboon skulls.
