Gorilla Habituation experience is simply known as the act of training wild gorillas in order to get them used to the sight of people. This type of Gorilla experience involves different groups of people to trek for habituation. There different people involved; the trekkers, rangers, researchers and many more. The habituation experience of gorillas takes about 2 to 3 years of training so that Mountain Gorillas learn how to live close to human beings.

This is a learning process that is presented by the Uganda Wildlife Authority on a small scale. The Uganda Wildlife Authority restricts this experience to a group of four people per day. The booking for this kind of activity should be done in a period of 6 months before the actual habituation day. Gorilla habituation takes place for 4 hours in the environment of Mountain Gorillas.

Cost

A gorilla habituation permit costs $1500 for each person, while Gorilla trekking costs $800 USD. This type of experience is hardly seen. It’s only in Uganda at the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. There are close to 11 habituated groups that include Mubare, Rushegura, and Habinyanja; these are all found at Buhoma. Rushaga in the South has different groups, including Busingye, Nshonji, Kahungye, Bweza, Mishaya an the Nkuringo gorilla  family. In the East part of the parking in Ruhija, there are other gorilla families like the Kyaguriro, Bitukura, and Oruzogo families. There are only two groups that are available for habituation; these include the Nkuringo and Rushaga.

Habituation helps people to understand Gorillas deeper and individually and to experience their behaviors; at this point of training, they can even name a single one of them. When the group is ready after all the research, with the presence of people, exercise is done in away to prove their facts. Gorillas do this exercise, which includes scientists; after this, the group is ready for trekking.

Bwindi impenetrable forest is a close encounter in the ancient rainforest in the Gorilla highlands of Uganda. There are few Gorilla habituation experience permits. The experience one has to plan a head of it. This experience gives you more time to live close with the mountain Gorillas. The Gorilla habituation experience is very different from that of trekking. The process takes two years and longer. This experience is limited and only available for habituation. This experience can be done in Uganda.

Habituation takes a period of four hours when living close to and training gorillas in Uganda. Gorilla permits make Gorilla trekking very expensive, although it’s worth the price. This experience can be encountered with 4 visitors instead of 8 people; this experience takes place with trekkers and researchers. Best time for Gorilla habituation experience

Gorillas inhabit Bwindi Natural Forest, Bwindi is a rain forest and it can rain all year round and any time of day or night. However Uganda experiences two seasons throughout the year the dry and high season, so one has to do this activity at the right time of the year. If a tourist  wants to go for habituation, it’s either dry or high season; one needs to book in advance  to plan ahead for your Gorilla habituation experiences that are at least 6 Months before  ones planned  safari, one has to obtain a permit. Bwindi impenetrable Forest .The best time of the year for gorilla habituation is the same time as that of Gorilla trekking. The months range from December through March and June through October.

South Bwindi Forest  is one of the ways of getting to Rushaga and Nkuringo,areas for Gorilla Habituation Experince. one wil drive from  Entebbe or Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National park ,it’s a long drive that can take approximately 10 hours. Daypack, Lunch, snacks, 3 liters of bottled water, long trousers, hat, bottled water, long-sleeved shirt, gardening gloves, Mosquitoes, ants, and flies—we consider you to wear those clothes for comfort.
