Mountain Kenya national park is a UNESCO world heritage gazetted as a national park in 1949 covering an area of 700 square kilometers, the park hosts a great ecological system with many animals and birds. Animals in the park include elephants, tree hyrax, white tailed mongoose, black fronted duikers, mole rats, bushbucks, waterbucks, elands, leopards, black rhinos, buffaloes, mongoose, black rhino, genet cat, bush pig, suni, warthog, wild dog, lion, jackal, impala, spotted hyena, giraffe, bat-eared fox, baboon and many more. MOUNT LONGONOT NATIONAL PARK
Mount Longonot national park is another adventurous national park lieing in the central Kenya safari circuit, mount Longonot national park lies in the great rift valley of Kenya south east of Lake Naivasha. The park covers an area of 52 square kilometers stretching around mount Longonot which is the main tourist attraction in the park, mount Longonot is an extinct stratovolcano mountain deriving its name for a Masai Oloonong’ot which means mountains of many spurs” or “steep ridges. Mountain Longonot is a great feature standing at the altitude of 2,776 meters, the mountain dominated by forests with a crater at its top which is also covered by forests at its floor.
Mount Longonot national park is situated 60 kilometers North West Nairobi town.
Mount Longonot national park is a great habitant for animals which habit in the park such as plains zebra, giraffe, Thomson’s gazelle, buffaloes, baboons, antelope, buffaloes and hartebeest. ABERDARE NATIONAL PARK
Aberdare national park is a fantastic wildlife habitant hosting a huge number of animals more than other destination in the central Kenya circuit, the park is located in central region of Kenya 180 kilometers from Nairobi and forms part of the Aberdare mountain ranges. Aberdare national park was established in 1950 in the former area occupied by the kikuyu people covering an area of 767 square kilometers and it lies at the altitude range of 7,000 feet to 14,000 feet above sea level, the park stretches over Aberdare mountain ranges which are the main attraction in the park.
Aberdare range forms a section of the eastern rim of the Great Rift Valley running from north to east, the range stands at the elevation of 3,999 meters above the sea level, the slopes of the range are heavily forested which make it a great attraction in the park. Aberdare national park is not all about the mountain, it is a habitant to many wildlife species, and the park is a home to many animals such as elephant, buffalo, giant forest hog, endangered black rhino, rare African golden cat, Jackson mongoose, black and white colobus monkey, Sykes’ monkey, waterbuck, reedbuck, duikers, serval cats, bushbuck and many more.
