The magnificent natural Amoropii hot springs are situated near the famous Panyimur fishing village in the Nebbi district in northern Uganda; it’s believed that women who have ever given birth will turn barren if they don’t ask for permission to visit the springs.
The waters of amoropii have got chemicals and minerals that contain medical values Some of the minerals in the water are potassium chloride, lithium sulfate, sodium chloride, potassium sulfate, magnesium chloride, and calcium phosphate, among others.
The word “Amoropii” is derived from two local Alur words: “Amoro” to mean “hot” and “pii” to mean “water.” The sacrifices offered are left in the open and are not seen the next day; hence, they believe that the gods consumed them.
The splendid springs are made up of steam whose waters heat up when it flows through a small pool in the dense bushes just a few meters from the swamp. The crate-like pool that contains hot water is said to be measuring about 2 meters in diameter.
The local people of Alur believe that the springs have divine powers and therefore worship the springs. The springs are said to solve a lot of issues, according to the locals; for example, those who would love to change their skin colors always go there, barren women go to look for children, and they help with skin rashes and many more.
In order to have their prayers answered, the locals take to the springs sacrifices of different animals as an offering to the gods, and most people visiting the springs have to make sure that they get permission from the prime minister of the Panyimur chiefdom; this is so in order to avoid misfortunes.
Once someone gets a problem out of the springs, to get back to normal, one must go through the prime minister of the Panyamur chiefdom, and one can only get cured if the gods of Amoropii are the ones responsible for their problem.

The geothermally heated water is very hot; it can boil an egg, potatoes, green bananas, and many more. While visiting the spring, tourists can come along with what they want to boil for evidence.
Tourists visiting Amoropii hot springs should not only stop at visiting the springs but also include the nearby Murchison Falls National Park in their itinerary. While visiting Murchison Falls National Park, they can be able to engage in some of the activities as seen below.
