Attractions in Rwanda are not as many as compared to other East African Countries, but very unique from others on its own. As the country’s nickname suggests, “the land of 1000 hills,” Rwanda’s history was for long known as the most insecure country due to the several insurgencies that happened in the early 1990’s but now it’s currently the most secure country in East Africa.

Kigali is the cleanest city voted as the best city in Africa, most organized, with a lot of tourist attractions in Rwanda. The attractions in Rwanda start from the vibrant, welcoming Kigali city life, the rare, endangered mountain Gorillas in Volcanoes National Park, with the others distributed between Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and Virunga National Park in Uganda and Congo, respectively.

Rwanda has many attractions that tourists can enjoy while in Rwanda for your trip to the land of a thousand hills.

Volcanoes National Park

Found in the Northwest, Volcanoes National Park is home to the endangered mountain Gorillas, the rare Golden monkey, a series of volcanic mountains, bird species, and many more attractions inside the park.

Nyungwe National Park

Located in the most remote part of Rwanda, it is one of the great attractions in Rwanda, the untouched Nyungwe rain forest harbors a large number of primates like Chimpanzees, Colobus monkey, and many more, not forgetting the bird species.

Twin Lakes

Lake Burera and Lake Ruhondo, referred to as twin lakes, are found just outside Musanze, the base town for Gorilla trekking.

Akagera National Park

Home to Africa’s Big Five (the lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhinoceros), Akagera National Park’s sweeping views, plentiful wildlife, and easy access render this spot one of the best parks in Rwanda and East Africa at large. Akagera is Rwanda’s star attraction for wildlife safaris and boat safaris.

City Tour

Visiting genocide sites, museums, local markets and craft shops, and many other places in and around Kigali.
