Facts About Lake Natron : Lake Natron is the salty or alkaline lake located on the northern part of Tanzania, east Africa. It is located on one of the big cities in the country, Arusha region. Arusha region is one of the border regions that separate Tanzania from its neighbor country, Kenya. It is believed to be in the east African rift valley. It is also located in northern part of Ngorongoro district which is in Arusha region, Tanzania.
The lake is also in the eastern branch of east African rift commonly known as Gregory rift. It is within the basin of Lake Natron that is a site of Ramser wetland of the international significances. Its surface elevations is 600 meters which is equivalent to 2,000 feet.
As a rich in minerals popularly known as soda in northern Tanzania. It is also located below the Oldoinyo Lengai, which is a soaring active volcano in the rift valley. People including visitors are not allowed to drink water from Lake Natron since it may poison them. The water may cause inside of a person as they were on a burning fire and if it may happen a person drinks enough water from the lake, the alkaline liquid that is contained in water may burn and create a hole in somebody’s stomach. Also, the abdominal pain may become crippling.

Also, the water is somehow poisonous since when people drink it may cause burning of the stomach. This may cause the cyanobacteria that contains water may make someone to feel nauseous and could give a patient diarrhea.
Lake Natron receives water from Ewaso Ng’iro River which is located on the southern part of the lake. Also, it is receiving water from some of the springs that are located alongside the lake. Lake Natron’s depth varies from time to time and from one point to another. Its depth is said to be less than 3 meters deep which is approximately equal to ten feet. Its width also varies since it depend on the size of water available in the lake.
