10 days Serengeti and Mount Meru safari is an experience which will start from Arusha and will also take you to the famous Serengeti national park where you will spend 2 days exploring the vast savannah plains.
You will also visit the Ngorongoro crater and Tarangire national park during your safari and engage in game drives as you search for the various wildlife species. You will also engage in a hike on Mount Meru during this safari which will also end in Arusha.
Day 1; pick up and drive to Serengeti national park
Drive time; about 7 hours
Your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Arusha and welcome you for your safari. You will continue your drive to Serengeti national park which will begin your wildlife viewing adventures in the northern part of Tanzania.
You will be driven to your lodge where you will check in for dinner and overnight at Serengeti heritage luxury tented camp.
Day 2; full day in Serengeti national park
Breakfast will be served at your lodge in Serengeti national park as you prepare to engage in game drives during the day. You will engage in a morning game drive during and look out for wildlife species such as lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, gazelles, elands, impalas, dik dik, kudus, waterbucks and many others.
You will engage in another game drive after lunch and later return to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Serengeti heritage luxury tented camp.
Day 3; drive to Ngorongoro crater
Your guide will drive you to Ngorongoro crater after you have enjoyed your breakfast at your lodge in Serengeti national park. Ngorongoro crater is the world’s largest crater and is famous for having large concentrations of wildlife species such as the big five which includes elephants, lions, buffalos, leopards and rhinos.
After having lunch, you will descend about 600 meters into the Ngorongoro crater where you will see attractions such as Lake Magadi which is known for having large flocks of flamingos along its shores. You will also see a variety of wildlife species during your safari such as cheetahs, jackals, gazelles, hippos, elands, wildebeests and many others. Dinner and overnight will be at Hhando coffee lodge.
Day 4; drive to Tarangire national park
Tarangire national park is famous for its large herds of elephants as well as for having ancient baobab trees. You will be driven to Tarangire national park after breakfast at your lodge in Ngorongoro conservation area.
During your game drives in Tarangire national park, you will enjoy seeing wildlife species such as waterbucks, giraffes, elands, gazelles, lions, leopards among others. This national park is also known for having a big number of bird species which can be seen in different birding locations around the national park. You will be driven to Arusha after your game drive in the national park for dinner and overnight at Baobab tented camp.
Day 5; drive to Arusha
After having breakfast at your lodge, you will be driven to Arusha where you will enjoy a city tour around the town and visit different places and also interact with the Maasai people, learn about their culture and later return to your hotel to relax and spend the rest of the day at Tulia boutique hotel and spa.
Day 6; Arusha to Momela gate to Miriakamba hut
After having breakfast at your hotel, your guide will drive you to Momela gate where you will start your hiking adventure on Mount Meru. During your 1st day of hiking the mountain which will take about 5 to 7 hours, you will have an experience of wildlife viewing along the way and enjoy seeing wildlife species such as giraffes, zebras, antelopes, buffalos among others. You will enjoy views of rivers as well as a waterfall during the hike at the base of the mountain.
The crew you will hike with during your mount Meru adventure will meet you at the gate. You will have a short briefing before starting your ascend. You will move with your packed lunches which you will have along the way to Miriakamba hut where you will spend the night.
Day 7; Miriakamba hut to Saddle hut
On the 7th day of your 10 days Serengeti and Mt Meru safari, you will wake up and enjoy breakfast prepared by your cook before continuing your hike on mount Meru from Miriakamba hut. You will be accompanied by a ranger guide as you climb the steep trail on your way to Saddle hut.
During your 10 days Serengeti and Mt Meru safari you will also enjoy views of the crater and hike for about 3 to 5 hours. You will have your dinner early at Saddle hut as you prepare for your hike to the summit of Mount Meru.
Day 8; Saddle hut to summit to Miriakamba hut
You will start your day with an early breakfast as you prepare for your hike to the summit from Saddle hut. You will start your ascend to the summit of mount Meru which is Tanzania’s second highest mountain after Mount Kilimanjaro. This hike will take about 10 to 12 hours.
You will hike along rocky ridges and cliffs on the mountain and then spend some time at the peak of mount Meru (4565 meters). You will start your descend from the peak to saddle hut where you will take a break before continuing to Miriakamba hut for dinner and overnight.
Day 9; Miriakamba hut to Momela gate to Arusha
After having breakfast at Miriakamba hut, you will start your descend back to Momela gate through forests and meadows where wildlife species can be seen along the way. You will be rewarded with certificates after completing your hiking adventure on Mount Meru.
Your guide will drive you to your hotel in Arusha after this experience for dinner and overnight at Tulia boutique hotel and spa.
Day 10; departure
On the last day of your 10 days Serengeti and Mt Meru safari, you will have breakfast and check out of your hotel and proceed to the airport which will bring your Tanzania safari to an end.
