Detailed itinerary for the safari
Day 1: transfer from Kigali to Mgahinga gorilla national park
On the first day of the safari you will wake up early in the morning for breakfast, meet your safari driver who will belief you about the safari and then head to Kigali city for a city tour. On Kigali city tour you will visit places like crafts market, king’s palace, Kigali genocide memorial center and many more. After the city tour experience you will have lunch at the hotel in Kigali and then embark on your journey to Mgahinga gorilla national park in Uganda which is a drive of approximately 4 hours. Upon reaching the park you will check into your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight as you prepare for tomorrow’s exciting experience.

Day 2: golden monkey trekking experience
On the second day of the safari you will wake up early in the morning, have breakfast and drive to Mgahinga national park for your golden monkey trekking experience. While in the park you will converge at briefing center where rules and regulations to be followed while this expedition will be read to you by your safari guide/game ranger, at the briefing area you also get to hire a porter to assist you carry your luggage on the experience. After the briefing you will hike into the forests of Mgahinga gorilla national park in search for golden monkeys, when you find the golden monkeys you will allowed to spend 1 with the monkeys and considering that they are very active you will be entertained seeing them jump on bamboo trees. In one hour you will also be allowed to take pictures and after the experience you will drive back to your lodge for lunch, since the experience is tiresome you can decide to go have an afternoon of resting or go for an optional nature walk or a visit in the local community. in the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 3: Batwa trail experience
On the third day of the experience you will wake up early in the morning for breakfast, leave your lodge and drive to the park for Batwa trail experience, this experience takes you on a visit to the Batwa pygmy people who were the early inhabitants of the forests of Mgahinga national park before it was declared it was declared a national park. Though these people were forced out of the park, the Batwa trail was established to showcase the life style of the Batwa people. On the Batwa trail experience you learn and encounter various aspects of the Batwa pygmy people such as collecting of local herbs, demonstrating of hunting skills, building of houses using local materials and many more. After the experience you will drive back to your lodge and in the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 4: transfer back to Kigali and departure
on the fourth day of the safari you will wake up for breakfast not as early as the other previous days, check out of your lodge and start on your journey back to Kigali for departure which is a drive of about 4-5 hours. When you reach Kigali you will have lunch and then be dropped off either at your hotel or Kigali international airport to catch your flight back home.
